Loda M. Wells, 66, former nurse’s aide

      LAPWAI - Loda M. Wells, 66, a Lapwai homemaker and formernurse’s aide, died of cancer at 5 p.m. Friday at her home. She had been ill for some time.
      She had lived all her life in this region. She attended school at Orofino, where she worked a a nurse’s aide at State Hospital North before moving to Lewiston. She then worked at the Lewiston Care Center and Rest Haven at Clarkston. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and also did needlework.
      She was the widow of Joseph Wells, who died Feb. 10, 1982.
      Mrs. Wells was born Feb 6, 1918, at Orofino, the daughter of Jerry H. and Annie E. Cooper. Her father died when she was young and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Oscar Taplin.
      She and Clarence Wilfong were married Oct. 22, 1932, at Asotin. They later were divorced and she married Wells May 12, 1946, at Asotin.
      Survivors include two sons, Jerry C. Wilfong of Spalding and Dwaine E. Wilfong of Lapwai; a daughter, Corrine L. Cox of Portland; two sisters, Geraldine Accuardi of Portland and Rose Appleford of Clarkston; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Tapling, Dan Taplin and Allen Taplin.
      The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lapwai Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. The body will be cremated. Mountain View Funeral Home of Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.
      The family suggests memorials to Family Hospice, Box 816, Lewiston.
